Pinchweld Cleaning Brushes • 10

IP TO1437

$5.00

Pinchwelds are perfect places for dirt, dust, and grime to collect. To prevent contamination of the urethane, before you strip it down to 2 mm, you must clean the area between the pinchweld and the urethane so dust and dirt will not fall onto, and contaminate, the freshly trimmed urethane. We recommend using plain water to loosen the dirt, dust, and grime. Most brushes are too large to get down into this small area and have bristles that are too stiff and can scratch the paint on the outside of the pinchweld. Our brushes are made of horsehair. They have the stiffness needed to brush away the grime but are soft enough to keep from damaging the paint or pinchweld. Brushes are made with a thin, metal handle that is 6" long and 5/16" in diameter.

3/4" Daubers • 100

IP JY1225

$10.00

In recent years, auto glass technicians have become more aware of contamination problems. One area of contamination is the pinchweld itself. Each time you put primer on the pinchweld and then dip the dauber back in the can you have contaminated the whole can. Many technicians today use a new dauber, dip it in the primer and prime as far as it will go, then discard the dauber and use a new dauber. For this reason, we offer these high-quality wool daubers. Made of a thick wool tuft that is held tightly in the center with a strong wire.

3/4" in diameter and about 6" length.

Package of 100.

Frit Paint Marker

IP ME1281

$10.00

The frit around the edge of a glass can sometimes have a small scratch that makes the glass unusable. If the scratch is not in an area where the adhesive is applied then it can be repaired with our frit paint marker. Apply the paint to the inside of the glass where the scratch is located and allow several minutes for it to dry. The paint is oil based and will not come off when the glass is cleaned.

1/2" Wool Daubers • 100

IP SDT883

$10.00

Many vehicles have very small pinchwelds and conventional daubers are too large. A large dauber may cause urethane to spread onto the headliner or worse, drip onto the seat.

This is the reason why we offer these small daubers, measuring only 1/2" in diameter. Made of a thick wool tuft that is held tightly in the center with a strong wire that extends back 4-1/4" and forms a circular grip for easy gripping.

1/2" diameter and approximately 6" length.

Pinchweld Cleaner

IP JEB569

$12.00

It is important during every windshield replacement to clean the pinchweld in order for the urethane to adhere properly. Whisk brooms were used in the past for cleaning the pinchweld but with today’s vehicle paint jobs being up to seven layers thick with a clear coat, the stiff straws would scratch the surrounding painted surfaces. Instead, now days you’ll see technicians using paint brushes for this task. We wouldn’t recommend using just any paint brush though because many of them still have bristles that are stiff enough to damage the clear coat. Our Pinchweld Cleaner brush was designed specifically with this job in mind. It is a paint brush made with soft “crushed” bristles for contact with the paint, but enough stiffness in each individual bristle to remove the dust and dirt out of the pinchweld.

Pinchweld Cleaning Brushes

IP ABC421

$24.00

Sometimes it is necessary to prime a pinchweld and you will need a small yet inexpensive & high-quality brush. Our Pinchweld Cleaning Brushes are made of horsehair, and have the stiffness needed to spread the primer properly, but are soft enough to spread the primer properly. Made with a thin, metal handle that is 6" long and 5/16" in diameter.
